Deciding which hotel to stay at in Halifax is really easy. Most visitors who are just stopping for a couple of days will opt to stay in downtown Halifax or near the Waterfront, both of which are close to most of the attractions.
If you are lucky enough to be visiting for a longer period, you could also look at Dartmouth (just a short ferry ride across the harbor) or Peggy!s Cove, which is located about 30mins from the center of Halifax. There are options to suit all tastes and budgets.

1. Luxury Halifax Hotels

1.1. The Sutton Place Hotel

Located in the center of the city, within easy reach of most attractions, the Sutton Place Hotel will appeal to discerning travelers who want a little luxury. Special features include large modern guestrooms and suites with lovely views, free Wi-Fi and Nespresso coffee makers. The Prince George Hotel is an elegant option which is also very centrally located. 1.3 Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel

The Halifax Marriott Harbourfront Hotel is probably one of the most popular of the top-end Halifax hotels. This option places you within a 5 minute walk of all the attractions at the Halifax Waterfront. The hotel also has a swimming pool and gym as well as an on-site harbor-view restaurant.

2. Mid-Range Halifax Hotels

2.1. The Barrington Hotel

The Barrington Hotel presents an historic façade and warm, welcoming staff. The guestrooms and suites are spacious and comfortable and all have large smart TVs and a mini-fridge. A fitness room, heated indoor pool and on-site eatery complete the picture – great value for money in a good downtown position.

2.2. The Halliburton

Well positioned in the south of the city for easy access to both the harbor and downtown, the Halliburton is set in three historic townhouses which ooze charm and character. Due to the historic architecture of the building, no two guestrooms are identical but they all benefit from stylish furnishings and fittings. This is a large, family friendly hotel located close to many of the downtown attractions, and just 2km from the harbor. Homewood Suites offers a complimentary daily hot breakfast and an indoor pool and fitness center.

The Halifax Backpackers Hostel

Located in the trendy North End of Halifax, the Backpackers Hostel is perfect for young travelers (and those who are young at heart!) who enjoy being close to arty attractions and live music venues. The hostel has a selection of 4, 6 and 8-bed mixed dorms with shared bathrooms as well as a few private rooms with shared bathrooms. Rates are very reasonable and you get free Wi-Fi thrown in. There is an onsite café and live music on Saturdays.
